First edition thus of the work originally published in 1887, very good + green cloth hardcover shows some foxing at page edges and some other light trace wear, in a very good dust jacket (price at flap) that shows a wrinkle at bottom corner of front flap, toning and small chip along spine and edgewear including small chips and tears. 337 pages with bibliography and a couple of illustrations. Still an attractive copy of this edition of the "..classic evocation by a Southerner of life on a Mississippi slaveholding plantation before, during, and after the Civil War."
