First edition inscribed by the author of the front endpaper, very good hardcover shows a touch of soil to covers, foxing to top page edges and bit of same at fore edges, and with some other very light trace wear, in very good dust jacket (price torn away at front flap) that shows mild toning and soil and edgewear that includes small closed tears and shallow open chips. 323 pages with index, black & whites and author card with short inscription as well. Still a solid inscribed copy in jacket of this look at "..the ill-fated Greely expedition which was optimistically launched in 1881 as part of the International Polar Year."
