Item #30857 The Autobiography of a Quack and The Case of George Dedlow. S. Weir Mitchell.

The Autobiography of a Quack and The Case of George Dedlow.

New York: The Century Co., 1900. First edition. Hardcover. First edition (both appeared anonymously as articles in earlier form in the Atlantic Monthly), very good green cloth hardcover (no dust jacket) with gilt letter and decoration to cover and spine shows wear of gilt at top page edges, rubbing and foxing to covers, bumping to corners and some other mild wear. 149 pages with black & white plates illustrated by A. J. Keller. Still a solid copy of these two tales with the Dedlow story having some significance in that it is about a Civil War soldier losing both arms and legs but still having the senastion of both being present. It was fictional yet mistaken for fact. Solid copy of these stories from the noted doctor and writer. Very Good. Item #30857
