Hardcover. 1971 reprinting of the first American edition published in 1970, very good + oversized (9 by 12 approx) blue cloth hardcover shows bumping to corners, rubbing at edges and some other light trace wear, in a very good dust jacket (price at flap) that shows wrinkling at spine head, touch of soil, and edgewear including short closed tears. 174 pages nicely illustrated. Remains a pleasing copy of this work that "..presents the history of the development of the wooden fighting ship from the time of King Alfred until the third quarter of the nineteenth century, which saw the end of traditional wodden-ship building for the Royal Navy."
